About the presenter

Jayne Lehmann, BN (Ed) Dip App Sc (Nsg), RN CDE FADEA

Jayne is a Registered Nurse, Credentialled Diabetes Educator and expert in diabetes support of people with intellectual disability across Australia. Her 35 years of clinical expertise and 26 years lived experience of caring for her daughter who had an intellectual disability underpins the practical, person centred solutions Jayne designs to support people with an intellectual disability.


About the presentation

The presentation will update participants on the state of play in diabetes support for NDIS participants with an intellectual disability. Case studies provide real life examples of Jayne’s work and experiences.


Learning objectives

1.     Explore the challenges facing people with intellectual disability in accessing quality diabetes support.

2.     Understand the funding NDIS participants can apply for/use, when they require support to manage their diabetes, due to the impact of their disability.

3.     Gain awareness of the Diabetes 4 Disability NDIS funded services EdHealth Australia can use when working with people with diabetes and an intellectual disability across Australia.
