The PANDDA Conference Committee is pleased to announce the Keynote Speaker for our 2020 Conference is Owen Barr, Professor of Nursing and Intellectual Disabilities in the School of Nursing, Ulster University.
Owen Barr (RGN, RNLD, PhD, MSc, PFHEA)
Owen is a Professor of Nursing and Intellectual Disabilities in the School of Nursing at Ulster University. He was Head of School for 10 years until August 2017 and is the Pathway Leader for Specialist Nursing Practice courses in intellectual disability. He is an active researcher into the experiences of people with intellectual disabilities using general health care and has published widely in this area.
Professor Barr led the development of the Regional Health and Social Care Hospital Passport for people with intellectual disabilities. He has been instrumental in the development and revision of Guidelines on caring for people with an intellectual disability in general hospital settings issued by the Regulation and Quality Improvement Agency in Northern Ireland. He has over 100 publications and is an editor of the Oxford Handbook of Learning and Intellectual Disability Nursing, (2009, 2019).
